Pineapple Mango Smoothie
Since Emily from Nourishing Transformations introduced me to this spicy fat burning smoothie I can’t get enough. This Pineapple Mango Smoothie is not just another green smoothie. It is packed with vitamins, antioxidants, hydration, and fat burning spices. Give it a whirl and I promise you will not be disappointed.
Fruit has been getting a bad wrap for its sugar content lately. I say “don’t fear the fruit”. Yes there is fructose in fruit, a natural sugar that in some cases like in pineapple will not spike your blood sugar like added sugar will. I love using smoothies to help me with my sweet cravings. This particular recipe makes my taste buds dance with delight. With the cinnamon and optional spices it keeps my brain on track and my sugar cravings take a hike with all the fiber and natural sweetness in the pineapple and mango.
Pineapple Mango Smoothie Recipe
2 cups coconut water
1 medium banana (optional)
1 cup frozen organic mango
½ cup frozen pineapple
1 tsp of cinnamon
dash of cayenne
4-5 ice cubes if fruit is not frozen
OPTIONAL- freshly grated ginger and/or turmeric
OPTIONAL – 1 scoop protein powder of choice (I use an organic pea protein)
Combine all ingredients in blender. Turn on high until blended smooth. Make 2-3 servings. Can be stored in refrigerator and re-blended within 24 hours.
A Word About Cinnamon: ½ tsp regularly can have a positive effect on your blood sugar, digestion and boost your immune system. It can help cut the risk of heart disease, diabetes, cancer, and degenerative conditions in the brain.
